Final Stats for MotherReader

I read for about twenty-six hours, with numerous breaks and interruptions. I finished eight books — four YA, three middle-grade, and one adult book. I read a total of 2120 pages.

I enjoyed the experience, but wish that life’s events hadn’t made it so complicated and hadn’t made my reading and writing so choppy. Due to the logistics of the days, I had to read a couple of books and wait to work on their reviews — which was kind of hard. I also would have preferred to have started on the morning of a full day of reading, but circumstances made that impossible. I met my basic goals for books and hours, and I found at least two, maybe three that I can use in my booktalks tomorrow.

I’ll add that my husband has been a complete dream, monitoring the contest and updating the site. I’m thinking that he’s a keeper.

Enjoy the rest of your reading, and I’ll be back Monday evening with the winners.

  6. Thanks so much for getting all of us to read this weekend. You put alot of work into organizing this challenge.

The sidebar with everyone's final stats is great. I'm amazed at all the reading everyone has done. Wow! Great job all.

  8. It was a pleasant surprise to get comments from Mr. MR on my Prydain posts. Thank him for me! And make sure he follows up on getting a nice set of the Prydain Chronicles to share with your girls!

  10. Oh my god, the 48-hour-challenge. I knew I was forgetting something this weekend...and I had gotten "Octavian Nothing" and "The Book Thief" just for this purpose! Aarghh....well, I'm glad it looks like you all had fun. I'm going to read these two anyway, so take that! And thanks for the inspiration...

I'll understand if you want to disassociate my blog with your blog. It'd be understandable.

  14. Can you change the link to my wrapup post in the sidebar? The stats didn't change from my last status post, but I added some final thoughts:

  17. I'm up, and thank-you, so much, MotherReader (and PapaBook), for doing all the work despite your own personal Girl Scouting dramas!

  18. I had SO MUCH fun with this. I needed a self-indulgent weekend, and I just loved it.

I found writing the breezy, personal little reviews incredibly liberating too. I usually spend a couple of hours writing a long, analytical review - which is probably why I'm about ten books behind. There's a lesson there.

    Thank you again!

  22. Book Moot addition:
11 hours reading and draft writing.

  23. 4+ hours of listening to "Tales from Lake Woebegone" by Garrison Keillor with hubby, 9 yr old and 10 month old in a car, driving for 12+ hours VA to upstate NY and back.
I know, it's not READING per se, but it was the best I could do under the circumstances. Maybe I'll even 'review' the stories/tapes. Yes, tapes!!
I hope to really participate next year.
