Even though the contest is called the 48 Hour Book Challenge, I never thought that people would read for the entire time. Boy, was I ever wrong. This year not one, but FOUR people read and blogged for the entire forty-eight hours! They didn’t sleep. They didn’t take breaks. They didn’t shower (though one employed a creative use of the audiobook allowance to take a bath). I am officially blown away. The winners of The Fourth Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge are:

ReplyDeleteCraziness. I just woke up a few minutes ago after an abundant 15 hours of sleep. I was amazed to spot Liyana, and to know there's two other people. That's crazy. Too much crazy in the world xD.

I have some hard cover books that I got through a "book look" that I didn't care much for. If you are really hard up, e mail me and I'll be glad to send them to one of your winners. There were some that Bargain Mom might like for her 11 year old. Let me know.

ReplyDeleteThe thing that's so great about this contest is the mix of books. My "to read" list is getting yet longer. (However, I will say that when it comes to sleep deprivation, you teens have a distinct edge. :)

ReplyDeleteWow...how did they not sleep? I nodded off it I read for more than two or three hours straight and would have to take my book for a walk! :) Amazing. Congrats to these die hard folks.
ReplyDeleteTrust me it was hard not to want to nod off! What I ended up doing was playing very up beat music that kept me focused and driven to read, and read and read. Not to mention got to love coffee! Trust me though by 9 am Sunday morning, coffee wasn't working! So I am just glad this wasn't the 72 hour challenge!

ReplyDeleteAs for the not sleeping, I have an unfair advantage. I was in an accident in january of last year that left me with back pain that makes it -very- hard to get to sleep anyways. I commented briefly about it on my blog, but, as I said there I'm used to staying up for extended periods of time. But, doing it and reading was much more mentally exhausting than I thought it would be. Stumbleupon is my normal curse, so I figured reading a book for that period of time wouldn't be hard. But, when I promised myself that I would, that was that. I'm still paying the price for it. Still groggy, don't think my brain has recovered from the exercise x.X!
