Seventh Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge: Starting Line

Stock your snacks and stack your books, because this is happening. This. Is. Happening.

Review the rules and info. When you start your 48 hours, sign in with Mr. Linky below. Keep track of your time — which includes reading, blogging, and some connecting (for every five hours reading/reviewing you can take one hour of blog reading, tweeting, and general bookish socializing). To keep the Starting Line post at the top of my blog, I won’t publish my personal posts until sometime Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, I’ll have a Finish Line post where you can leave the link to your final summary, which should include the amount of time spent on the challenge. Feel free to round to the quarter hour. Please include the amount that you've pledged to Reading Is Fundamental in your post. As another incentive to sign out on the Finish Line post, I''ll give a dollar per 48HBC finisher.

Let's rock and read.

And I am starting about 9 AM with a re-read from childhood of THE BOXCAR CHILDREN to be followed by some reading from my 4th grade elementary school reader which I received in the mail yesterday having tracked one down for a reasonable price! 7. Hi Pam, I can't participate this year because I have company (yet again. I would definitely rather be quietly reading.) But i will send in a donation to RIF anyway.

It was great seeing you again this week in NYC and hope to see you in September at Kitlit Con.

  14. Hi there! Getting started about 10:10 am Friday by finishing off Veronica Roth's INSURGENT. (Yeah, I know it's lame to start with an in-progress book, but I have to finish it, and I can't change my participation period due to previous commitments on Sunday...) Anyway, I will count it in my books read total as half a book, since I'm almost exactly half done. :D Hopefully that's fair!

  28. I'm starting in four minutes (7:00pm Friday night my time). I can't wait! I've already screwed up by just posting a link to my blog and not my specific starting line post. Sorry! My To Read pile is massive, but I'm looking forward to making a dent in it.

  39. I'm not having any luck at all with Mr. Linky. I thought I had posted my start post last night, but this morning it's nowhere to be seen. And I tried three times ths morning---I hope it doesn't show up three or four times in Mr. Linky later. Anyway I started last night at 1030, and I'm trying to read Palace Walk by Naguib Mafouz.

  44. I thought I had commented and left a link when I started Friday night at 9. I do not see either now and wonder if I was dreaming...or if I have just been reading too much. Actually, had to break for graduation parties so I think I will be posting on the light side of the challenge. This is my first time participating so I hope I am following protocols correctly. I wandered back here to read some posts as I am in my hour of networking.
