Seventh Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge: Finish Line

You made it! On this Finish Line post, leave the direct link to your final summary page, which should include: the amount of time spent on the challenge, books read, and amount pledged to Reading is Fundamental

I am donating one dollar to Reading is Fundamental for everyone who finishes the challenge, which means to me that you signed in as a participant, read/blogged some books, and signed in at the Finish Line. So perhaps that little extra incentive can get folks to record their time and complete the 48HBC all official-like. Given different starting times over the weekend and time zones, the end is set at Monday, June 11th, at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. All final summary posts should be up by then. That said, sometimes there are folks who need some nudging, so I won’t announce any winners until later that evening.

Thanks again to everyone who participated and supported and promoted the 48 Hour Book Challenge! Read on!

  1. Thanks for a great weekend, Pam. Thanks to a reliable babysitter and an obliging spouse, I was able to get in much more time than I had originally hoped. It feels really good!

  18. Thanks again, Pam! So much fun to participate again! Funniest part this year was when I tried to listen to an audiobook while driving my son and his date to Prom -- and it ended up being on a lesbian sex scene! Maybe we should be allowed to substitute a different audiobook in such a case? I decided that was where I draw the line on that audiobook! We did all think it was funny, though.

  19. Thanks again, Pam! My sons actually joined in with me this year, which made things even more fun. They were very keen on staying up late to read, but then tended to get distracted by fun stuff during the day, especially since I was too busy reading to kick them outside as much as usual.

But we all made our goals, and now I just have to conquer your capcha.

  22. Much better reading selection this year, just not enough time to sit and enjoy!

  23. I failed miserably. Came down with a bug yesterday and did not read at all. This one was a fail for me. I hope to do better next year. Thanks for hosting!

  26. My 48-hour challenge went bust! I ended up in bed with a headache for most of the weekend. I hope the rest of you had a better reading weekend than I did, and maybe I'll try again next year.

  29. So much fun this challenge. I ended up with 18 hours and will need to check how far I got in my book.
Will adjust my totals tonight. Where do we send our donation to RIF?

  30. Hi Pam,

What a fun time again this year! I read a total of 20 hours over 3 days -- have a hard time staying within the 48 hour parameter. :)

I didn't donate yet to RIF, but would be glad to.

Thanks again for hosting the 48HBC!! It is such a great way to kick off my summer reading!

  31. Jone and Karen (and anyone else who needs to know), you can make your donation directly to RIF through their site - http://www.rif.org

I proposed the RIF as a pledge per hour, but left the amount to each person's comfort zone looking at $.50 an hour or more. Whatever works.
