The Fourth Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge: Starting Line

48 Hour Book ChallengeYou’ve read the rules. You’ve cleared your schedule — well, except for that graduation/recital/tennis lesson. You’ve stacked your books and stocked your snacks. Let’s go.

When you start your reading, sign in with Mr. Linky here. Keep track of your time — which includes reading, blogging, and some connecting (as stated in the rules).

On Sunday, I’ll have a Finish Line post where you can leave the link to your final summary page. As a backup, link to the Finish Line post in your final summary.

Have fun, read well.

  6. Started at noon. But know I wont be here for full challenge. So I'm unofficially participating. (Im using this as an excuse to read all day.)

    Happy Reading!
And thanks for hosting the event. Hopefully next year I won't have such a full weekend!

  7. Rebekah (a.k.a. "Adventures in Thought") -- Thanks for the heads-up; we were able to delete the duplicate entry (Mr. Linky is pretty easy that way)!

  8. I'm not starting until 8 pm tonight - but I wanted to sign in now so I don't have to think about hauling out the laptop after dinner. All I wanna do is get in bed and read!

  12. The evil plan is to start at about 6:00 this evening. I'm VERY excited about being able to read for 48 hours if I want. I have convinced my family that it is work.

  26. I love that the rules include "reading" one audio book. That means the fact that I have to work this weekend doesn't make a difference, I'll be able to read the whole time (barring, you know, my bosses actually wanting me to interact or something silly like that!)

I updated my blog with a starting post. I'll be actually starting around 11 p.m.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Cheering you all on. Happy reading, gang!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I wasn't going to do it, but I caved. I have a very nice TBR pile. Off to read now!

  34. need more caffine....

  35. I'm laughing at myself because of how excited I am by this! I tried to nap before I started (so I'd need less sleep time), but was too excited!
You see, whenever I have a special day (Mother's Day, Birthday...), I think about what I could do to indulge myself that's really special. My first thought is ALWAYS to spend the whole day reading -- but I always decide it's not practical or too lazy or some such. So then you announce this challenge -- and it happens to hit the only weekend in months when I have no other commitments. Woo-hoo! I am so excited, it's funny! On top of that, my blog was broken and just this morning I finished fixing it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I did start tonight for a bit, find it at www.embrace-enjoylearning.blogspot.com

    ReplyDelete
  37. I still can't find Mr. Linky! WTF? But here's a link to my starting post.

  38. I have a mountainous pile of books, a charged Ipod, a spouse who's planning on spending the weekend writing anyhow, and a starting post (with a picture of my to-read pile). I think I'm committed now...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Okay! Half way done with The Absolutely True Diary......loving the story and the character. Very hyped up on chocolate and coke. Must keep going.......

    ReplyDelete
  43. I started at 9pm (CET) last night and read for a little over three hours. I have my stacks of books I can't wait to get back to, but I think this year will have to be a practice for me and next year, I will do a better job at clearing the schedule.

Makes me want to go read a book or two...

    ReplyDelete
  59. I had four and a half hours to read. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh, whoops, I linked the finishing here and not the starting.

Comes of the lack of sleep I suppose.
