So for Poetry Friday I wanted a poem about the rain and my feelings, but I couldn’t find a poem called “F****** Rain.” In fact, it turns out that poems about stormy weather either focus on the glory of nature or the gloominess of life. Given the two options, I’m going for the glory.
Yes indeed, if the Sun shines bright, it will be a lovely sight. Wish me luck and dry weather. Kelly Polark has the Poetry Friday roundup.The Rain
by William Henry Davies
I hear leaves drinking rain;
I hear rich leaves on top
Giving the poor beneath
Drop after drop;
’Tis a sweet noise to hear
These green leaves drinking near.
And when the Sun comes out,
After this Rain shall stop,
A wondrous Light will fill
Each dark, round drop;
I hope the Sun shines bright;
’Twill be a lovely sight.

I like the line I hear leaves drinking rain!
Good luck on your camping trip. Maybe you can write the rain poem you are looking for! ;)
Oh, wishing you SUN! Interesting note about the content of weather poems. Room there to write something totally different... thanks!
Putting on my to-do list: Write a poem called "F****** Rain." :)
Yikes. I hope your weekend is filled with a wondrous light!
You're a brave woman taking those Girl Scouts camping at all, Pam. It's quite steadily raining here; hope it's better where you are...
I hope the sun shines for you and the scouts! : )
I have always loved the rain, and, increasingly, I love Poetry Fridays. It's a calm day in the literary blog world.
I am always so excited to read about someone as a Girl Scout Leader! My mother was my leader as her mother had been for her; I was my daughter's leader. I love Girl Scouting and camping was a favorite part of that experience. Hurray for you, I have been thinking about you over this weekend.
And here we are always wishing for rain. Here's wishing that your rain comes OUR way and you and the girls are left high and dry.
This poem is an optimistic view of rain! I hope your camping trip was full of the glory of after the rain!
