105 Ways to Give a Book

MotherReader 48HBC Update II

It’s weird to be writing these in present tense when I know I’m not posting them until tomorrow, but I like the immediate sound. I guess there’s also no particular reason to start a second update when I haven’t posted the first, but there’s something sad about only having one update, so I’m doing them in twelve-hour increments.

8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.Started review posts for all three books.
9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.Oh, Mom. Why must you call during my 48HBC time? Especially with, “I haven’t heard from you in a while!” Yeah, Mom, like since Tuesday.
10:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.Some social media time. Not like I earned it. Sigh.
10:30 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.Mood for writing posts broken by Mom’s call. Read Smells Like Dog instead.
1:30 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.Social media time.
2:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Five hours of this twelve-hour period.

Haha I understand that urge to crash. I'm just doing my little bit of social networking thing before going to celebrate an engagement - trying to keep myself in a fit state to read a little when I return. Good going so far from the organiser, always nice to see a bit of an example set 9no pressure then ;)

I think you feel more of an accomplishment having two posts, no matter how little or much you read. I also understand the need to crash, reading in bed is always a bad combination for me.

hehe I will be lucky if I make it to 2am though that is my goal :) My mom called too, is it like a conspiracy?

Oh - you have mom phone call sympathy in spades! I phone my mother every morning including 48HBC mornings, and I still got a rather plaintive 'Oh no - not the reading challenge again' on Saturday when I reminded her about it. I asked why it was an 'Oh no' and she said it was because I didn't get to talk to anyone much. I pointed out to her that we'd been on the phone for 30 minutes already at that point...

This morning though, I think I finally convinced her by stressing again the charitable aspect of it, and mentioning that I'd found Books for Africa from BetterWorldBooks, of which she approves totally. Maybe next year she'll get why it's just fun to be doing this in connection with book lovers who blog around the world!
