105 Ways to Give a Book

The Fourth Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge: Winners

48 Hour Book ChallengeEven though the contest is called the 48 Hour Book Challenge, I never thought that people would read for the entire time. Boy, was I ever wrong. This year not one, but FOUR people read and blogged for the entire forty-eight hours! They didn’t sleep. They didn’t take breaks. They didn’t shower (though one employed a creative use of the audiobook allowance to take a bath). I am officially blown away.

The winners of The Fourth Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge are:
I’ve listed the winners in the order in which I discovered their mind-boggling, sleep-deprived achievements. A few couldn’t even stop reading and added a some extra hours to their totals. Absolutely amazing.

Since I didn’t plan on four winners — FOUR — I’m going to be spending a bit of extra time pulling together prize packages for each. Anyone have two more copies of Catching Fire?

Later today, I’ll have a second post with all the members of the Twenty Hours Club, the donations collected, and random prizes for players. Congratulations to this year’s remarkable winners!

Craziness. I just woke up a few minutes ago after an abundant 15 hours of sleep. I was amazed to spot Liyana, and to know there's two other people. That's crazy. Too much crazy in the world xD.

Congratulations to everyone that put in their time and effort. I enjoyed it lots even though towards the end I was hating myself.

I have some hard cover books that I got through a "book look" that I didn't care much for. If you are really hard up, e mail me and I'll be glad to send them to one of your winners. There were some that Bargain Mom might like for her 11 year old. Let me know.

The thing that's so great about this contest is the mix of books. My "to read" list is getting yet longer. (However, I will say that when it comes to sleep deprivation, you teens have a distinct edge. :)

Do I ever have a goal for next year! Well, maybe it's just to clear my weekend so I can participate MORE, but you guys are amazing!

Wow...how did they not sleep? I nodded off it I read for more than two or three hours straight and would have to take my book for a walk! :) Amazing. Congrats to these die hard folks.

Trust me it was hard not to want to nod off! What I ended up doing was playing very up beat music that kept me focused and driven to read, and read and read. Not to mention got to love coffee! Trust me though by 9 am Sunday morning, coffee wasn't working! So I am just glad this wasn't the 72 hour challenge!

As for the not sleeping, I have an unfair advantage. I was in an accident in january of last year that left me with back pain that makes it -very- hard to get to sleep anyways. I commented briefly about it on my blog, but, as I said there I'm used to staying up for extended periods of time. But, doing it and reading was much more mentally exhausting than I thought it would be. Stumbleupon is my normal curse, so I figured reading a book for that period of time wouldn't be hard. But, when I promised myself that I would, that was that. I'm still paying the price for it. Still groggy, don't think my brain has recovered from the exercise x.X!

Holy cow! I didn't think it was humanly possible to read for 48 hours straight. Amazing!! My hat is off to them for sure.

Pam, thank you so much for doing this challenge every year and for rounding up such great prizes. It is just fabulous. Now I am going to spend some time reading blogs!

If I didn't already have a copy of CATCHING FIRE, I might have also attempted to stay up 48 hours reading. Probably would've failed though! So my props to you amazing four.
